The Art of Jewellery: Traditions and Trends jewellery and decorative-applied arts exhibition will take place at the Moscow State Exhibition Hall “New Manege” on October 9-20, 2019. The exhibition is organized by the Gokhran of Russia with the support of the Moscow Government. Three halls will host the exposition telling about the national jewellery art development for over three centuries – since the 18th century to the present day.
The Gokhran of Russia provides functioning of the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of the Russian Federation and, being the treasurer of a unique collection, supports modern jewellery art development and contributes to the national traditions awareness.
More than 220 unique masterpieces from the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of the Russian Federation collection will be presented at the exhibition. The Diamond Fund Exhibition situated on the Moscow Kremlin territory is the most famous part of the State Fund collection. Visitors of The Art of Jewellery: Traditions and Trends exhibition will see the masterpieces of jewellery art exhibited for the first time – works of the firms of Fabergé, Ovchinnikov, Khlebnikov.
The Russian jewellers of the past depicted their epoch and fascinating national colour and involved the international community into the culture of our country. By the end of the 19th century Russia held the leading position in jewellery art. The masters created original items of high artistic value characterized with an unsurpassed mastership. Works of goldsmiths and silversmiths of Russia of the late 18th – early 20th century, works of numismatics, phaleristics and medallic art presented at the exhibition reflect the spirit of the time, show the experience of the Russian craftsmen of the past, represent priceless historical and cultural heritage.
In the modern jewellery art section over 200 items of the best craftsmen are presented. The major part of the section – the works of the winners of the Russia 21st Century Jewellery Art Competition held in 2019 by the Gokhran of Russia with the support of the Moscow Government and the participation of the Russian Jewellery Guild Association and the Creative Artists Union of Decorative and Applied Arts.
The works of the honoured craftsmen, the laureates of the international competitions recognized worldwide are presented at the exhibition.
Ilgiz Fazulzyanov is one of the craftsmen working with hot enamels – the winner of the prestigious international exhibitions, awarded with the Grand Prix of the International Jewellery Design Excellence Award competition. The variety of the jewellery industry is also demonstrated by a great number of companies and factories. For example the leading Russian Estet Jewellery House will demonstrate its best works.
In addition to the original jewellery items there are works of the Russian armoursmiths made of Damascus steel and titanium, items of craftsmen working with stones and bone, masterpieces of the watch high art. The founder of the Russian watch manufactory Konstantin Chaykin presented sophisticated clockwork in which highly elaborate mechanisms make a perfect match with high artistry.
A unique section presents a collection of full-colour ultra-realistic holograms of the valuables from the Diamond Fund which cannot leave the territory of the Moscow Kremlin. The holograms were created with the help of new optical technologies and R-G-B lasers by the Gokhran of Russia together with the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.
Within the framework of the Exhibition it is planned to conduct a series of lectures and meetings with craftsmen and representatives of the jewellery industry. The scheduled speeches include those by CIBJO President Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri, President of the Fund of Development of Jewellery Art Galina Ananyina, Collector Maxim Artsinovich, Editor-in-Chief of the Jewellery catalogue Elena Veselaya, Chief Expert of the Gokhran of Russia Veronika Voldaeva, Director of the Creative Union of Artists of Decorative and Applied Art Sergei Kolomiitsev, International Jewellery Reviewer Katerina Perez, Senior Research Scientist of the Scientific and Research Institute of the Russian Science Academy Irina Perfilyeva, Chairman of Board of the Guild of the Edged-Weapon Craftsmen Artistic Union Gennady Sokolov, as well as Alexey Gabilo, Larisa Zolotova, Vladimir Moisejkin, Lev Plotkin, Vadim Prygov, Dmitry Samorukov, Irina Slesareva, Gennady Sokolov, Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, Konstantin Chaykin, Alexey Shcherbina.
